The S&P 500 and Nasdaq indexes hovered near record highs on Thursday, boosted by
a jump in chip stocks after lower-than-forecast producer inflation data fanned
expectations of interest-rate cuts from the Federal Reserve. .N

38,513.74. The S&P 500 .SPX was down 0.01% at 5,420.37 and the Nasdaq
Composite .IXIC was up 0.23% at 17,649.749.
