From AI giants planning new US data centers, to a smart airport corridor, this is AI Weekly. OpenAI, Oracle, and SoftBank have announced plans for five new AI data centers in the US. It's part of the $500 billion Stargate project to build AI infrastructure, a priority of President Trump. The five centers, in locations including New Mexico and Texas, are expected to create 25,000 onsite jobs. And on OpenAI, NVIDIA will invest up to $100 billion in the ChatGPT owner. It's a tie up between two titans in the global artificial intelligence race. In return OpenAI will get the access it needs to buy cutting-edge chips, something which could cause concern for rivals of both firms. Meta's AI system Llama has been approved for US government use. Agencies can experiment with the free language model as the administration pushes to integrate AI. Meta said it's now expanding access to a number of US democratic allies in Europe and Asia. A new AI-powered app says it is helping to keep young smartphone users safe online. The Sway.ly app said it alerts both children and their parents when they are exposed to harmful content. It also re-trains feeds in real-time and gives parents insights into their children's online activities. Dubai Airport has debuted a contactless lane that lets passengers clear immigration without documents. The smart tunnel system uses AI-powered biometric technology to verify travelers' identities automatically. Officials said Dubai plans to expand it to other terminals and airports in the near future.
