DEBT
The strong orders for Italy's new bond reserved for retail
investors offered welcome relief on Friday after a rising budget
deficit had forced it to hike its debt issuance for the last
part of the year.
Italy is paying the price for raising its deficit targets
via higher borrowing costs, European Central Bank policymaker
Klaas Knot said on Friday, telling governments to tighten their
purse strings or face "market discipline".
Treasury announces sale of BTP bonds, with relative amounts
to be auctioned on Oct. 12.
COMPANIES
MONTE DEI PASCHI BMPS.MI
Italy's economy ministry said on Friday it had kicked off
the process to pick financial and legal advisers to help it cut
its controlling stake in the Tuscan bank.
TELECOM ITALIA TLIT.MI
The Italian Treasury is keen to implement a plan agreed with
U.S. fund KKR KKR.N to bid for Telecom Italia's (TIM) landline
grid, a source with knowledge of the matter said on Sunday.
Earlier, La Repubblica newspaper said the Treasury was
considering an alternative proposal put forward by TIM's main
shareholder, Vivendi VIV.PA , that did not involve the sale of
the grid, dubbed NetCo. The source denied the report.
UNIPOL GRUPPO UNPI.MI , BANCA POPOLARE DI SONDRIO BPSI.MI
Italy's financial group Unipol said in a regulatory filing
on Friday it had no plans to buy additional shares in Banca
Popolare di Sondrio in the next six months or exert even de
facto control over the bank.
JUVENTUS JUVE.MI
Italy's most successful soccer club said on Friday it would
ask shareholders for up to 200 million euros of fresh capital as
it posted another yearly loss and predicted it would stay in the
red this fiscal year. Parent company Exor EXOR.AS , the
investment arm of the Agnelli family, will support the capital
increase, Juventus said.
Juventus scored twice from corners to secure a 2-0 home
victory over local rivals Torino on Saturday.
