U.S. stock indexes fell on Wednesday, as investors locked in profits after a
strong 2023 and awaited the Federal Reserve's December meeting minutes that
could offer hints on its interest rate path.  .N 
    
    At 10:46 ET, the Dow Jones Industrial Average  .DJI  was down 0.80% at
37,413.84. The S&P 500  .SPX  was down 0.80% at 4,704.77 and the Nasdaq
Composite  .IXIC  was down 1.03% at 14,614.38.
