Brief Profiles
Mr. Ashish Anupam
Mr. Ashish Anupam is the Vice President - Long Products at Tata Steel, a role
he has held since August 2022, leading one of the company's largest business
verticals with a turnover exceeding USD 4 billion. With over three decades of
experience in the steel industry, he has led large-scale business
transformation, capacity expansion, and market development, with deep
expertise in marketing and sales. He is widely recognized for scaling
businesses, executing complex turnarounds, and building future-ready growth
platforms.
In his current role, Mr. Ashish Anupam leads the Long Products business of
Tata Steel with full P&L responsibility spread across multiple locations
like Jamshedpur, Gamharia and Odisha. He also leads the growth of the brand
Tata Tiscon while building on platforms like Aashiyana. In the last 5 years he
was instrumental in acquisition and turnaround of steel business of Usha
Martin Ltd and Neelachal Ispat Nigam Limited (NINL), and recently he led the
start-up of first Electric Arc Furnace (EAF) in Ludhiana. Together, these
strategic initiatives have significantly strengthened Tata Steel's Long
Products portfolio and enabled the doubling of its capacity to 6.4 MnT in
FY26.
He serves as Chairman of the Board of Tata Steel (Thailand) Public Company
Limited, Siam Industrial Wire (SIW) Company Limited, and TSN Wires Company
Limited, while also serving as the Vice Chair of Construct Steel committee of
World Steel Association.
He is a Mechanical Engineer from Birla Institute of Technology, Mesra and has
completed Executive General Management Program from INSEAD, France
He previously served as the Managing Director of Tata Steel Long Products
(2019 - 2022), President & CEO of NatSteel Holdings, Singapore (2015 -
2019) and as Executive In-Charge of Tubes Division, Tata Steel (2013 - 2015).
Mr. Peeyush Gupta
Mr. Peeyush Gupta currently holds the portfolio of Vice President - TQM, Group
Strategic Procurement & Supply Chain at Tata Steel. His responsibilities
include sourcing of strategic raw materials (Coal, limestone, and Iron ore),
Industrial gases and IT for Tata Steel Group (India, Netherlands, and UK) and
revenue procurement (comprising of Bulk commodities, MRO- Maintenance, Repair
& Operations,consumables, services, and transportation) of Tata Steel
India and, UK with an approx. buy of US$10 Billion (~INR 90,400 crore) in
2025.
In Supply Chain, he is responsible for Group Shipping (for Indian and European
operations), Integrated Planning across production plants, Processing of steel
in regions, Raw Material logistics across manufacturing plants / mine sites
and movement of finished products to domestic and International customers with
an annual spend of US$2 Billion (~INR 16,500 crore).
Prior to moving to this role, he was leading the commercial responsibility for
Indian Operations of Tata Steel as Vice President - Steel (Marketing &
Sales) during 2014 - 2021 and at Tata Steel (Thailand) as President and CEO
during 2011 - 2013. He has over 32 years of experience at Tata Steel.
He chairs the board of TM International Logistics Ltd., Jamipol Limited,
Creative Port Development Private Limited and Subarnarekha Port Private
Limited, subsidiaries/associate companies of Tata Steel Limited.
He is a member of the board of Tata Steel Downstream Products Ltd., Mjunction
Service Ltd., Tata NYK Shipping Pte. Ltd. Singapore and Tata Steel Global
Procurement (TSGP) Singapore. He also chairs the Business council of Agrico
and Bearings Division of Tata Steel.
He was engaged with the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) Eastern region
as the Chairman of West Bengal State Council, India for the period 2021-2022
and as a Chairman of CII- Marketing and Retail Committee for the period
2017-2020.
Mr. Gupta is a Mechanical Engineer and has done MBA from McGill University,
Montreal, Canada. He is a Chevening scholar from Leeds University, UK and has
done senior management development programs at CEDEP and INSEAD, France.
Mr. Prabhat Kumar
Mr. Prabhat Kumar is currently the Vice President - Marketing & Sales
(Flat Products) at Tata Steel and brings over three decades of experience
within the Tata Steel Group, with extensive exposure across core business
functions, stakeholder management, and senior leadership engagement. He has
held multiple leadership roles across the organization, enabling a deep
understanding of the Company's operating model and value chain.
He has rich experience across Marketing & Sales and has played a
significant role in shaping strategies for key end‑use segments,
including automotive and construction. Mr. Kumar has overseen the launch of
several new products in response to evolving market needs and possesses
strong techno‑commercial expertise, combining operational insight with
market‑facing leadership.
Mr. Kumar is a Mechanical Engineer from B.I.T. Sindri and has been
associated with Tata Steel since 1990, when he joined as a Graduate Trainee
at Tata Steel Jamshedpur. He holds a Post Graduate Diploma in Business
Management from XLRI, Jamshedpur, and has completed the CEDEP General
Management Program from INSEAD, France, strengthening his strategic and global
management perspective.
In addition to his executive responsibilities, Mr. Kumar is a member of
the Profit Centre Councils at Tata Steel and serves as a Member of the
Board of Directors of Tata Steel subsidiary companies, contributing to
governance, strategic oversight, and long‑term business sustainability.
Mr. Ujjal Chakraborti
Mr. Ujjal Chakraborti, an Electrical Engineer by qualification, joined Tata
Steel in 1990 as Graduate Trainee. He spent his initial years in CE & DD
Project Management, CRM and Flat Products. He was the Master Black Belt for
ASPIRE in Flat Products & Tubes area before taking up the role of Head
Business Analysis for Flat Products. He was appointed as Chief CRC West in
2008. Since 2008, he has led the departments/functions of Business Analysis
(RM & CSI), Sinter Plant, Pellet Plant, Agglomerates as Chief. In 2017, he
was appointed Executive-in-Charge, IBMD.
In 2018, he was deputed to Tata Steel BSL Limited and on his return from
deputation later that year he was appointed Executive-in-Charge, Tubes.
In 2021 he was deputed to M/s JCAPCPL as MD JCAPCPL and again on his return
from deputation in August 2024, he was appointed as Executive-In-Charge,
Tinplate Division, the position which he currently holds
Mr. Chakraborti has rich experience in leadership roles across diverse
functions including general management roles. In his current role, he leads
the Tinplate division at Tata Steel Limited.
