The S&P 500 and Dow Jones struggled to make gains on Friday as signs that
inflation was here to stay eclipsed expectations of an easing in U.S.-China
tensions, while a rise in heavyweight technology firms supported the Nasdaq.

34,754.83. The S&P 500  .SPX  was down 0.13% at 4,487.27 and the Nasdaq
Composite  .IXIC  was up 0.04% at 15,254.578.
