** Two Vancouver-based technology firms Hootsuite and Dapper
Labs are laying off 22% and 5% of their employees on Wednesday.
Both cited macroeconomic concerns as a pressure point that led
to the cuts.
** The federal government announced on Wednesday that
Chinese state-owned Sinomine Rare Metals Resources Co, Chengze
Lithium International, and Zangge Mining Investment Co must sell
their stakes in Power Metals Corp PWM.V , Lithium Chile Inc
LITH.V , and Ultra Lithium Inc ULT.V respectively.
** The Bank of Canada is urging financial technology
companies to start preparing for a new regulatory regime that
will soon cover businesses providing services such as digital
wallets and electronic payment systems.

** The processing fee application Telus Corp T.TO filed to
the Canadian Radio-television and Telecommunications Commission
only applies to a small subsection of users and doesn't need the
telecom regulator's approval to add a credit card surcharge on
the majority of its customers, a CRTC spokesperson said.
