TOKYO, Nov 29 (Reuters) - Kyushu Electric Power 9508.T
restarted the 890 megawatt (MW) No.2 reactor at the Sendai
nuclear power plant in southwestern Japan late on Thursday after
scheduled maintenance, a company spokesperson said.
The reactor was shut on Sept. 14 for the maintenance.
Separately, Tohoku Electric Power 9506.T temporarily
halted operations of the No.2 reactor at its Onagawa nuclear
power plant in northern Japan as planned on Nov. 24.
The planned shutdown will last about ten days to ensure the
safety of facilities and equipment, according to the company.
As of Friday, Japan has 11 operating reactors with a total
capacity of 10,782 MW.
Many companies are still going through a re-licensing
process to comply with stricter safety standards imposed after
the 2011 Fukushima disaster. The companies had 54 operational
reactors before it.
The table below shows the status of Japan's nuclear power
