TOKYO, May 28 (Reuters) - Kansai Electric Power 9503.T
has restarted the No.3 reactor at its Ohi nuclear power station
and the No.4 reactor at its Takhama nuclear power station in
western Japan after scheduled maintenance, a company
spokesperson said on Tuesday.
The 1,180-megawatt (MW) No.3 reactor at Ohi was rebooted on
April 5 after being shut down on Feb. 10, while the 870-MW No.4
reactor at Takahama was restarted on April 23 after going
offline on Dec. 16, the spokesperson said.
Meanwhile, Kyushu Electric Power 9508.T conducted
scheduled maintenance on the No.3 reactor at its Genkai nuclear
power station in southwestern Japan, shutting it down on Nov.
10, 2023 and restarting it on Jan. 31 this year, according to a
company spokesperson.
With the restarts, Japan now has 11 operating reactors with
a total capacity of 10,428 MW.
Many companies are still going through a relicensing
process to comply with stricter safety standards imposed after
the 2011 Fukushima disaster. The companies had 54 operational
reactors before the disaster.
