TOKYO, Feb 21 (Reuters) - Kansai Electric Power 9503.T
restarted the 1,180 megawatt (MW) No.4 reactor at its Ohi
nuclear power station in western Japan on Thursday, following
scheduled maintenance, a company spokesperson said on Friday.
The reactor had been shut down for maintenance since
December 14.
Kansai plans to shut down No. 3 reactor at its Takahama
nuclear power station on Saturday for scheduled maintenance, the
spokesperson said.
As of Friday, Japan has 14 operating reactors with a total
capacity of 13,253 MW.
Many companies are still undergoing a re-licensing process
to meet stricter safety standards implemented after the 2011
Fukushima disaster. Prior to the disaster, they operated 54
reactors.
