TOKYO, Nov 21 (Reuters) - Kansai Electric Power 9503.T
restarted the 826 megawatt (MW) No.3 reactor at the Mihama
nuclear power plant in western Japan on Thursday after replacing
a pipe where small holes had been discovered, a company
spokesperson said.
The reactor was shut on Oct. 15 due to the holes found in
the pipeline used to release water from the cooling system to
the sea.
Separately, the utility shut down the 826-MW No.2 reactor at
the Takahama nuclear power plant in western Japan on Nov. 6 for
scheduled maintenance, and plans to restart it in early
February, the spokesperson said.
As of Thursday, Japan has 11 operating reactors with a total
capacity of 10,717 MW.
Many companies are still going through a re-licensing
process to comply with stricter safety standards imposed after
the 2011 Fukushima disaster. The companies had 54 operational
reactors before it.
The table below shows the status of Japan's nuclear power
