The following factors could affect Italian markets on Thursday.

ECONOMY

ISTAT releases December non-EU foreign trade data (0900 GMT), November industry sales data (1000 GMT), Q4 wage inflation data (1100 GMT).

Bank of Italy releases December data on Target 2 liabilities and European Central Bank funding to Italian banks.

DEBT

Treasury sells up to 6.5 billion euros in BTP bonds and up to 2 billion euros in CCTeu bonds. Subscriptions close at 1000 GMT.

COMPANIES

BANCA MONTE DEI PASCHI DI SIENA BMPS.MI

The Tuscan lender said on Wednesday it had approved rules allowing all of its directors to take part in the process of drawing up a slate of candidates for the renewal of the bank's board, removing a potential obstacle to the reappointment of CEO Luigi Lovaglio.

(*) The rules approved by the board reserve investor sounding activities to the chairman, so as to avoid contacts between CEO Luigi Lovaglio and the bank's top two investors, given the ongoing criminal probe, two people with knowledge of the matter told Reuters.

(*) The European Central Bank is against postponing the presentation of the business plan for Mediobanca's MDBI.MI integration into MPS until after the Tuscan bank's April 15 shareholders' assembly, Il Giornale daily said on Thursday.

(*) The ECB favours a solution for Mediobanca in line with indications MPS has provided in the investor prospectus for the bid where it said the offer aimed to take full control of Mediobanca with a view to delisting its shares, according to a source with knowledge of the matter.

CEO Philippe Donnet is not expected to step down early and will likely serve his term in full, until April 2028, daily Corriere della Sera reported on Thursday, adding that 2025 results could beat plan forecasts.

BANKS

Italy's deposit protection fund (FITD) said on Wednesday it had agreed a 750-million-euro binding rescue plan for Oaktree-owned Banca Progetto, involving the country's five biggest banks.

The tyremaker's governance problems could be solved by putting Chinese shareholder Sinochem's 600500.SS 34% stake in a blind trust, Il Messaggero daily reported on Thursday, adding  that the Italian government was pushing for this option. Pirelli and its Italian shareholder Camfin had no comments, the report said.

LUXURY

Prada 1913.F has terminated its relationship with more than 200 suppliers for compliance breaches over the past five years, following an audit in response to allegations of labour abuse in its Italian supply chain, the Financial Times reported on Thursday.

DE' LONGHI DLG.MI

The Italian appliance maker, known for its coffee machines, reported on Wednesday an 8.7% rise in full-year revenue, above its previously announced forecast range and in line with a company-provided consensus.

JUVENTUS JUVE.MI

The Turin-based club agreed on Wednesday to loan Brazilian midfielder Douglas Luiz to Aston Villa for a fee of 2 million euros.

(*) Juve went through to the playoffs for a place in the knockout phase of the Champions League after a 0-0 draw at AS Monaco on Wednesday.

STMICROELECTRONICS STMMI.MI

(*) The Franco-Italian chipmaker on Thursday forecast first-quarter revenue slightly above market expectations as its main markets recover, but posted a $141 million impairment cost as it restructures its operations.
