India New Issue-Bharti Telecom to raise nearly $1 billion via short tenor bonds, bankers say

MUMBAI, Nov 27 (Reuters) - India's Bharti Telecom, the holding company of Bharti Airtel BRTI.NS, plans to raise 85 billion rupees ($954 million) through sale of bonds maturing in two years and in three years and two months, three merchant bankers said on Friday.

The company will pay an annual coupon of 7.30% and 7.40% on these bonds, respectively, and has invited commitment bids from investors on Friday, the bankers said.

The company did not reply to a Reuters' email seeking comment.

In October, Bharti Telecom raised 105 billion rupees through the sale of bonds maturing in two years and in three years and two months at an annual coupon of 7.35% and 7.45%, respectively.
