The Nasdaq and the S&P 500 inched up in choppy trading on Friday ahead of a long
weekend, after signs of moderating price pressures, strengthened bets for an
interest-rate cut at the U.S. Federal Reserve's upcoming meeting in
September. .N 
    
    At 11:48 ET, the Dow Jones Industrial Average  .DJI  was down 0.20% at
41,252.18. The S&P 500  .SPX  was up 0.13% at 5,599 and the Nasdaq Composite
 .IXIC  was up 0.27% at 17,563.108.
